Auckland Zoo

Thanks to a $2.69m grant from the Lottery Significant Projects Fund, the construction of Auckland's Zoo New Zealand development, Te Wao Nui, is now complete and opened to the public in September 2011.

The $16m precinct development project (designed by Logan Brewer) was the largest ever undertaken in the Zoo's 89 year history. Opening up previously undeveloped areas of the Zoo's footprint, Te Wao Nui offers local and international visitors alike a unique experience of New Zealand's fauna, flora and culture. The 4 ha exclusively New Zealand area is now home to 100 New Zealand native plant species and around 60 different animal species.

Steelguard Ltd manufactured several fire-rated doors and frames, including large double doors and sliding doors. The project involved close partnership with other contractors on site.
