Our People
Chris Sai Louie
Chris is a highly experienced engineer, having managed projects in nine countries in everything from commercial building, infrastructure and maritime to residential property and civil engineering. He has previously run his own design, build and development business, Berntsen and Sai Louie, and has been a consultant Commercial Services Manager to Ports of Auckland Ltd, consulting on strategic management of key port assets, including supervision of more than $100 million of capital works redevelopment.
Chris encourages clear and open communication among his team, and leads with a very hands-on approach. “I want people to know what we can do, we are passionate about what we do, and I reckon we do as good as, if not better than anyone.”
Steve Ball
Steven is General Manager, Chartered Construction Manager (MCIOB), and a certified Prince 2 Practitioner with specific skills in project management, contracts & commercial practices including quantity surveying, construction technology and health, safety and the environment.
Steven is registered with Auckland Council as a Producer Statement Author, so you can be assured that Producer Statements issued for products will be compliant with the Building Code.
Steven has considerable senior management experience within the glass and facade industry and a proven track record in both developing my skill base, that of the team around me and ensuring projects and company objectives are delivered on time, on budget and to a standard that exceeds customer and stakeholder expectations.
Nigel Simonsen
Nigel has experience managing a range of construction and maintenance projects, including prisons, commercial and industrial buildings. Nigel has developed skills in CAD drawing, estimating, procurement and the operation of specialist fabrication software.
Since 1992 Nigel has held management positions in maintenance and manufacturing companies based in Auckland.
Andy He
Andy graduated from Massey University with a degree in mechatronics engineering in 2010 and a Masters degree (1st class honours) in mechanical engineering from the University of Auckland in 2014. Since joining Steelguard he has developed skills in CAD drawing, estimating, procurement and operation of specialist fabrication software.
Andy is bi-lingual, which comes in useful when communicating with overseas suppliers and clients.
